Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, born in 1878 in Georgia, became a significant figure in the history of the Soviet Union. After assuming leadership following Vladimir Lenin's death, Stalin initiated various policies with far-reaching impacts. His administration implemented ambitious Five-Year Plans, industrialized the backward Soviet Union in only 30 years, which contributed to substantial economic growth and modernization. Stalin's leadership also played a critical role in the Soviet Union's resilience against Nazi Germany during World War II, a period marked by the nation's formidable resistance and liberation of Europe from the scourge of Fascism. Stalin's legacy is lifting millions out of poverty.
