Founded in 2014, the Party of Communists USA is the Party of the Working Class. We don’t represent the big corporations of monopoly capital. Our history is one of struggle to overthrow an evil economic system called capitalism that allows working people to be super-exploited. We offer a vision of a future for youth, women, and oppressed peoples to claim their rightful place at the head of society, making decisions for themselves. Our vision is scientific socialism with a planned economy. No more will we produce what we do not need. No longer will we get caught in the trap of endless war and military spending.

History of the PCUSA

The Party of Communists USA was founded by former members of the CPUSA who were dropped from the Party after the fall of the Soviet Union. These members were expelled for their continued support of the Soviet experience and Marxism-Leninism. Even before the undemocratic dissolution of the USSR, many of these anti-revisionist CPUSA members were reprimanded for their disapproval of Parastroika, Glasnost and Mikhail Gorbachev. Instead of being removed through any democratic process, the CPUSA under the leadership of Sam Webb simply stopped accepting dues from the several clubs they deemed too far gone.

Many of these genuinely communist elements who were purged would form US Friends of Soviet Peoples. While not a party, an important organization to exist at the so called "End of History" where most of the Left in America was abandoning the Communism and Soviet experience wholesale, CPUSA included.

One of the organizers in US Friends of Soviet People, Angelo D'angelo, would go on to be a founding member of the pre-party formation that would eventually become PCUSA. The National Council of Communists USA laid the foundation of the PCUSA, whose 1st congress was held on May Day at Arrow Park in 2015. At this congress Angelo D'angelo was elected General Secretary of the Party and was reelected at the party's 2nd congress in 2021. At the 1st congress of the PCUSA, greetings were received from 4 international parties. At the 2nd congress 44 such greetings were received, showing a great deal of progress being recognized by the international communist movement in such a short time. The 3rd Congress of the PCUSA is expected to be held in 2024.

In 2020, Christopher Helali (Masters Degree in Marxist Philosophy from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and PhD in Philosophy from Tongji University) openly ran as the PCUSA candidate for U.S. House Vermont At-large District, being the first Communist to run for House since the 1990s. Running on a platform against war, Imperialism and for abolishing NATO, He received 3,432 votes largely from rural voters. This garnered much sensationalized attention from the press, but still very positive for the party. Many members who joined the party at the time first heard about it due to this campaign.
